Home-Based programming is proven effective as skill acquisition occurs in the child’s natural environment. This increases the likelihood of generalizing the skills learned in your home to other settings. Most of the services we offer can be provided in the home of the child.
Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA)
An FBA is a method of gathering information about the purpose (function) a behavior serves for a person. For example, the purpose of a tantrum is often thought of as a child being defiant, when it may actually be a response to auditory sensitivity or a maladaptive way to get attention through reprimands. Our FBA’s identify the function of the behavior(s) through data collection, observations, and interviews. The information collected is analyzed to provide positive interventions to help increase skills and to replace inappropriate behaviors with appropriate ones.
Verbal Behavior brings relief to families by developing the socially significant skills needed for a child to communicate effectively. It promotes the increase in language skills, social skills, and overall learning skills, which in turn aids in the decrease of problematic behaviors. Treatment is structured and heavily guided by assessments and data collection. The use of different ABA techniques including reinforcement, fading, and shaping are utilized during intensive one-on-one treatment sessions. Skill acquisition is done through modes like discrete trial learning, incidental teaching (or natural environment training), pivotal response training, and natural language paradigm.

Functional Analysis and Brief Functional Analysis are scientific approaches to methodically identify the function of severe problem behaviors. This is accomplished by using a systematic manipulation of antecedents and consequences within fast paced sessions. This assessment is often conducted to validate the findings of an FBA and can be coupled with an FBA to provide more scientifically conclusive results.
